Meet Beck…

Person in a blue shirt sitting on grass with a black and white dog wearing a red service dog vest, surrounded by green foliage and pink flowers.

About Me

I chose to study psychology because I was good at observing people and putting together patterns of their actions. I also was the kind of person everyone seemed comfortable talking to. I am a direct communicator and believe in empowering those around me. I enjoy working with people going through life transitions, working through hurdles that have come up and building tools to work towards a better life and their goals for the future.

I will admit I am quirky and funny and bring that into my practice – laughter is healing and has a place in therapy. Part of my quirkiness has meant I often do not feel like I fit in – so I like working with those who feel like or identify as outsiders, misfits, or unique spirits. I have lived experience in different populations who are outside the mainstream and work as a therapist with people from these groups to give back to my community and support others with similar experiences. I want you to feel seen and heard.

My Approach

I approach the therapy relationship with respect, warmth, and curiosity to create a safe space for self-reflection and discovery. It is important to me that you feel accepted as you are and who you are, which includes exploring all aspects of yourself and the ways you want to grow and heal. I see therapy as a collaboration between two experts: You are the expert on your life. I bring expertise on mental health and how we, as humans, respond to life events. As we examine your concerns, we can combine our ability to gain greater clarity and insight into seeing new ways forward. By learning to accept ourselves and grow to become the person we want to be we will be able to lead happier, more fulfilling lives.

The Therapeutic Process can be very rewarding. It can also be challenging. By engaging in this process, you are taking positive steps to support your healing and self-care. Outcomes of treatment rely not just on the competence of the therapist but also on the willingness of the client to fully engage in the process, even when discomfort arises. Therapy is not a magic wand I can wave to make you “better” and I cannot make any specific promises about what will change for you. However, I can promise that I will support you, do my absolute best to understand you, help you clarify what you want for yourself, and be present with you at each stage of this process.

Supervision & Consultation

As an graduate student, intern, associate, or licensed professional when you are looking for a supervisor or professional consultant you need someone who understands your vision of how you want to practice as a counselor, or how you work as therapist, and that person needs to support and help you grow in the ways you want to. I believe in empowering you to be the kind of therapist you want to be without changing your vision. Each of us brings our experiences to shape our philosophy of how we practice as therapists. It is my job to help you hone your craft with these in mind. I charge sliding scale rates based on what you earn, and/or what you can afford. Schedule time with me so we can talk about your needs.
